Nightly parades, Christmas concerts, winter-wonderland decorations and a wide variety of other events that appeal to all ages make Universal Orlando Resort an exciting and fun place to be for the holidays.
Of all the holiday related events going on across the country, few are as recognizable as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Universal Studios Florida brings this unique attraction to Orlando every night in December as the Macy’s Holiday Parade. The stars of this show are the variety of floats and balloons directly from the Thanksgiving parade, and the nightly appearance of Santa Claus. A dazzling light show, accompanied by beautiful music, follows the parade each night at the Christmas tree lighting.
Universal Studios also offers a variety of concerts featuring Christmas music from several artists, guaranteeing an interesting show for visitors of all ages. Barney and friends perform for the children, the Blues Brothers entertain the adults, and Mannheim Steamroller showcases their best-selling Christmas music for everyone’s enjoyment. Universal’s Islands of Adventure features the musical story of Grinchmas, as well as transforming Seuss Landing into a magical winter fantasy for all the Whos in Who-ville. The Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast provides the opportunity to meet these famous Whos, and possibly the Grinch himself.
Each of the hotels at Universal Orlando Resort features Christmas entertainment and holiday-themed fine dining experiences. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel offers Holiday in the Harbor – a celebration involving acrobatic elves, holiday carolers, a tree lighting ceremony and more, all set against an Italianate backdrop. Portofino’s Christmas Day Champagne Buffet includes dining with various resort characters, face painting, and other activities along with the delicious holiday menu.
The Hard Rock Hotel allows guests to enjoy ‘dive-in movies’ with a Christmas theme at its famous pool-side movie screen, weekly visits from Santa Claus, and many opportunities to dine with Universal Orlando Resort characters. Buffets on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day offer enticing menus for the whole family. Loews Royal Pacific Resort hosts stocking and ornament decorating workshops every Friday and Saturday in December before Christmas, frequent visits from Santa Claus, and provides a delicious seafood and Asian-inspired buffet as an alternative to traditional holiday fare.
Universal CityWalk provides a wonderful way to finish off the Christmas season with its fabulous New Year’s Eve party. With a variety of venues, including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, CityWalk’s Rising Star, and the Red Coconut Club, there is an abundance of gourmet food, live music, and all night parties to help bring in the New Year. As an added attraction, performances by world famous artists are included in the revelry.
While the sights and sounds of Christmas are being celebrated in unique and exciting ways, Universal Orlando Resort theme parks continue to offer all the attractions and entertainments that are available year round. Go behind the scenes and enjoy the action of some of your favorite movies at Universal Studios Florida, and immerse yourself in the worlds inhabited by favorite story characters at Universal’s Island of Adventure.
